Music Director & Violin Teacher

Anna Baksheeva, Music Director of The String Space, brings more than 35 years of violin experience and a lifetime of musical dedication to our community. Trained in Russia’s renowned music institutions—including 10 years at a specialized music school in Vladivostok and four years at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College in St. Petersburg—Anna’s musical foundation is rooted in a rich classical tradition.
She earned a BA in Violin Performance from the University of Georgia and an MA in Violin Performance from the University of Ottawa. Anna continues to expand her artistry through master classes and private study with leading violinists in Ottawa.
An active chamber musician, Anna performs with pianist Natalia Bibik-Chabukiani as the Bibik Duo and with guitarist Andrew Mah as Duo Pleiades. Duo Pleiades is one of the region’s sought-after freelance entertainment duos, performing at weddings, private celebrations, corporate functions, and special events throughout the National Capital Region.
Alongside her performing career, Anna has extensive experience teaching students of all ages and abilities and developed the curriculum used at The String Space. Her vision, expertise, and passion for accessible, high-quality music education shape every part of the program.

Operations Director

Mirette Sedarous, Operations Director of The String Space, brings experience in business operations, process improvement, technology, and organizational development. With a talent for turning complex challenges into practical solutions, Mirette is passionate about creating systems that help people and organizations thrive.
Working alongside our Music Director, Mirette will oversee the operational side of the school, helping ensure that our faculty, students, and families enjoy a seamless, welcoming, and well-supported experience. Her thoughtful, people-centred approach and expertise in continuous improvement will also help strengthen the school as our community continues to grow.
She earned an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Waterloo and has over 15 years of experience in process improvement and project management, successfully leading increasingly complex and challenging projects through to completion.
Mirette is delighted to bring her experience to a creative environment where strong operations support exceptional music education and allow our teachers and students to flourish.
